garden seed kits

I cannot wait for spring — cabin fever hit hard this week. One of my favorite finds from the recent Gift Show: grow your own garden kits by Ecosource (still loving their ecopots.) I’m forever wishing for a little veggie garden — or even some space around a window for indoor container gardening. Aren’t the labels on these garden kits absolutely adorable? I’d keep the tin to use as a cute container in the kitchen (chopsticks, you have a new home.) These Grow Your Own kits will be showing up in stores, including Anthropologie, come March. Imagine growing your own strawberry garden! Or watermelons!! Yes, please. Happy weekend!

kimchi hot dog
a combination of two of my favorite places - chicago and korea!

kimchi hot dog

kimchi hotdog

I’m not a hot dog person. At the baseball stadium, it’s the soft pretzel smothered in yellow mustard that I crave — not the hot dog. But at the Brooklyn Flea on Sunday, I kept walking by the Asia Dog booth selling kimchi hot dogs. And I couldn’t resist. The combo sounded like it could go wrong or go so very right. I love kimchi. Really anything made with vinegar and spice is going to make me happy. And so after thinking about these hot dogs for an hour as we walked around the Flea, I finally caved to my curiosity and bought one (earlier I’d indulged in an amazing lobster roll from the Red Hook Lobster Pound — apparently I was hungry!). And let me tell you, this kimchi hot dog (made with organic beef) exceeded expectations. So much so, that I fear I could turn into a hot dog person. Now I’m thinking on other foods I could top with kimchi and turn into an unforgettable pairing.
